Violence Against Women Unit

Protecting and promoting the life and security of the most vulnerable women is the focus of this Unit. Women from 10 districts in Tamil Nadu, namely, Dindigul, Madurai, Pudukottai, Ramnad, Sivagangai, Virudhunagar, Thirunelveli, Theni, Trichy, and Tuticorin benefit from various training programmes on gender rights, legislations related to gender issues, techniques to combat violence, and leadership skills.

Legal interventions to protect women from violence against them in the domestic and public sphere is another core dimension of this Unit. Besides engaging in fact-finding and action research, assistance and counselling are provided to the Dalit movements and NGOs on gender violence-related issues.
