“I am Mahalakshmi, and I work as a field animator of Adi Tamizhar Union. At the foothill of Viralipatti, Vadipatti Taluk, Madurai district, some caste people illegally took possession of the common waste land and enjoyed it as private property. I met local people and discussed how to recover the land. I met the Gram Sabha leaders and insisted that these lands must be reclaimed and given to the poor. As the Panchayat President did not act, I organised the people and made a complaint to the police about Murugan, the occupant of the land. During this struggle, some good-hearted people of different unions and political parties supported me. I was happy to be associated with them. Finally, the Panchayat took possession of this common land.

Then I prepared a list of households where two or three families are living under one roof and submitted a petition to the District Collector to allocate the reclaimed common waste land and issue a housing patta. Various trainings I received from IDEAS, especially legal, leadership and media training, helped me to emerge as a strong leader to work for the development of the poor. I thank the Union for providing me this opportunity to grow as a leader.”

Anandameena, another union leader, said, “As a result of the training given by Mr Rajkumar, District Entrepreneur Officer in 2021, I have motivated some women on the benefits of registering under MSME. This year, from Kalingapatti unit, 5 have registered. I have personally accompanied these women to the E-centre. I have also helped women to register under TADHCO schemes. I have also learned to discuss and dialogue with government officials. This was possible due to participation in various training sessions organised by IDEAS. I am happy that I can help the needy women.”

நான் மகாலட்சுமி. ஆதி தமிழர் சங்கத்தில் களப்பணியாளராக பணிபுரிகிறேன். மதுரை மாவட்டம், வாடிப்பட்டி தாலுகா, விராலிப்பட்டி மலையடிவாரத்தில், சில ஆதிக்க சாதியினர் பொதுவான தரிசு நிலத்தை சட்டவிரோதமாக ஆக்கிரமித்து அனுபவித்து வந்தனர். நிலத்தை எவ்வாறு மீட்கலாம் என்பது குறித்து உள்ளூர் மக்களைச் சந்தித்து பேசினேன். பிறகு கிராம சபைக் கூட்டத்தில் பஞ்சாயத்து தலைவரை சந்தித்து, இந்த நிலங்களை மீட்டு ஏழை மக்களுக்கு வழங்க வேண்டும் என்று மனு கொடுத்தேன். ஆனால் அதற்குரிய எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் தலைவர் எடுக்காததால், மக்களை ஒருங்கிணைத்து, நிலத்தை ஆக்கிரமித்து அனுபவித்து வரும் முருகன் என்பவரின் மீது காவல்துறையில் புகார் அளித்தேன். இந்த நில மீட்பு களப்பணியின் போது பல்வேறு தொழிற்சங்கங்கள் மற்றும் அரசியல் கட்சிகளைச் சேர்ந்த பலரும் எங்களுடன் கரம்கோர்த்து நின்றனர். அவர்களின் உடனிருப்பு எனக்கு மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சியை தந்தது. முடிவாக, அந்த நிலத்தை பஞ்சாயத்து கையகப்படுத்தியது.
அதன்பின்னர் நான் இரண்டு மூன்று குடும்பங்கள் ஓரே வீட்டில் வசிப்பவர்களின் பட்டியல் ஒன்றை தயார் செய்து, மீட்டெடுக்கப்பட்ட நிலத்தை அவர்களுக்கு ஒதுக்கி வீட்டுசவதி செய்து பட்டா வழங்குமாறு மாவட்ட ஆட்சியரிடம் மனு அளித்தேன். அய்டியாஸ் மையத்தில் நான் பெற்ற பல்வேறு பயிற்சிகள், குறிப்பாக சட்டம், தலைமைத்துவம் மற்றும் ஊடகப்பயிற்சி போன்றவை ஏழை மக்களின் வளர்ச்சிக்காகப் பாடுபட, ஒரு வலுவான தலைவராக உருவாக எனக்கு உதவியாக இருந்தது. ஒரு தலைவராக வளர இந்த வாய்ப்பை வழங்கிய சங்கத்திற்கு நன்றியை தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.
மற்றொரு தொழிற்சங்கத் தலைவரான ஆனந்தமீனா கூறுகையில், 2021 ஆம் ஆண்டு மாவட்ட தொழில்முனைவோர் அலுவலர் திரு. ராஜ்குமார் அளித்த பயிற்சியின் விளைவாக, MSME-யின் கீழ் பதிவு செய்வதால் ஏற்படும் நன்மைகள் குறித்து பெண்களுக்கு எடுத்துக்கூறி அவர்களும் அத்திட்டத்தின் கீழ் பதிவு செய்ய ஊக்கப்படுத்தியுள்ளேன். அதன் விளைவாக இந்த ஆண்டு கலிங்கப்பட்டி கிளையில் இருந்து, 5 பெண்கள் MSME-யில் பதிவு செய்துள்ளனர். இவர்கள் பதிவு செய்வதற்கு நு-மையத்திற்கு அழைத்து சென்று, தேவையான அனைத்து வழிகாட்டுதல்களை செய்தேன். தாட்கோ திட்டங்களின் கீழ் பெண்கள் பதிவு செய்யவும் உதவியுள்ளேன். அரசு அதிகாரிகளுடன் தைரியமாக பேச கற்றுக் கொண்டேன். இவையெல்லாம் அய்டியாஸ் மையம் ஏற்பாடு செய்த பல்வேறு பயிற்சிகளின் அமர்வுகளில் பங்கேற்றதன் மூலம்தான் சாத்தியமானது. தேவையில் இருக்கும் பெண்களுக்கு என்னால் உதவ முடிகிறது என்பதில் மிகுந்த மகிழ்ச்சியடைகிறேன்.
