Many college students and parents participated in the one-day state-level consultation, organized by IDEAS on 6 January 2024 at V Grand Hotel Madurai. Nearly 170 persons participated.

One of the social work girl students stated, “Women consider talking about violence against women as taboo. Cultural conditioning is so strong among women, that they hesitate to speak about violence against them. Women also think that even if they report violence nothing would happen and no action would be taken by the authorities. Rarely the culprits are booked. Still, they come out easily from prison and continue to take revenge on women. Many women feel helpless. This consultation instilled confidence among women and encouraged them to speak about violence against women and lodge complaints if needed. I consider this a big success. I am sure that at least 50 per cent of those who participated will be bold enough to speak against violence against women”.

IDEAS released a poster on this occasion in which toll-free numbers were announced in public so that women could easily lodge complaints and get help from the government and NGOs. The participants vowed to spread this good news in the villages, and many agreed to paste the posters in public places in the villages and explain the importance of this poster.

The participants also suggested that a survey could be conducted in colleges to understand the level of awareness of girls on violence against women and organize sessions to deal with violence against women. The organizers felt that the campaign must be taken to colleges to spread awareness among students, who in turn could take the campaign to villages. The consultation was organized by IDEAS Centre in collaboration with Deepam, Arockia Agam, Power Trust, Women’s Commission Madurai, Antena Trust, Saksheed Charities, Sakthi Vidiyal, Sneha Trust, lawyers, social activists, and social work students.

பெண்களுக்கு எதிரான வன்முறை குறித்த மாநில அளவிலான கலந்துரையாடல்

6 ஜனவரி 2024 அன்று மதுரை V கிராண்ட் ஹோட்டலில் IDEAS மையம் ஏற்பாடு செய்த ஒரு நாள் மாநில அளவிலான கலந்தாய்வில் சுமார் 170 கல்லூரி மாணவ மாணவிகள் மற்றும் பெற்றோர்கள், தன்னார்வ தொண்டு நிறுவனப் பணியாளர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.

சமூக பணி மாணவி ஒருவர் கூறுகையில், “பெண்களுக்கு எதிரான வன்முறை குறித்து பேசுவதை பெண்கள் இழிவாக கருதுகின்றனர்” என்று தெரிவித்தார். மேலும், கலாச்சார சீரழிவு பெண்கள் மத்தியில் மிகவும் வலுவாக இருக்கிறது என்றும், அவர்கள் தங்களுக்கு எதிரான வன்முறையைப் பற்றி பேசத் தயங்குகிறார்கள் என்றும் தெரிவித்தார். வன்முறை குறித்து புகார் அளித்தாலும், அதிகாரிகள் நடவடிக்கை எடுப்பதில்லை என்று பெண்கள் நினைக்கின்றனர். அரிதாகவே குற்றவாளிகள் தண்டிக்கப்படுகிறார்கள். ஆனாலும், தண்டிக்கப்பட்ட குற்றவாளி சிறையில் இருந்து எளிதாக வெளியே வந்து பெண்களை பழிவாங்குவது தொடர்ந்து கொண்டுதான் இருக்கிறது. பல பெண்கள் உதவியற்றவர்களாக உணர்கிறார்கள். இந்த கலந்ததுரையாடல் கூட்டம் பெண்களிடையே நம்பிக்கையை ஏற்படுத்தியதுடன், பெண்களுக்கு எதிரான வன்முறைகள் குறித்து பேசவும், தேவைப்பட்டால் புகார் அளிக்கவும் அவர்களை ஊக்கப்படுத்தியது இதை ஒரு பெரிய வெற்றியாக நான் கருதுகிறேன். கலந்து கொண்டவர்களில் குறைந்தது 50 சதவீதம் பேர் பெண்களுக்கு எதிரான வன்முறைக்கு எதிராக தைரியமாகப் பேசுவார்கள் என்று நான் உறுதியாக நம்புகிறேன்.

அய்டியாஸ் மையம் பெண்களுக்கு எதிரான வன்முறை ஒழிப்பு குறித்து ஒரு சுவரொட்டியை வெளியிட்டது, அதில் பெண்கள் எளிதாக புகார்களை தெரிவிக்கவும், அரசு மற்றும் தன்னார்வ தொண்டு நிறுவனங்களிடமிருந்து உதவி பெறவும் இலவச தொலைபேசி எண்கள் பொதுவில் அறிவிக்கப்பட்டன. இந்த செய்தியை கிராமங்களில் பரப்புவோம் என்று உறுதிமொழி எடுத்தவர்கள், கிராமங்களில் உள்ள பொது இடங்களில் சுவரொட்டிகளை ஒட்டவும், இந்த சுவரொட்டியின் முக்கியத்துவத்தை விளக்கவும் ஒப்புக்கொண்டனர்.

பெண்களுக்கெதிரான வன்முறைகள் குறித்து புரிந்து கொள்வதற்கும், பெண்களுக்கு எதிரான வன்முறைகளைக் கையாள்வதற்கான பயிற்சிகளை ஏற்பாடு செய்வதற்கும், கல்லூரிகளில் ஒரு கணக்கெடுப்பு நடத்தலாம் என்றும் பங்கேற்பாளர்கள் பரிந்துரைத்தனர். மாணவர்களிடையே விழிப்புணர்வைப் பரப்புவதற்காக கல்லூரிகளுக்கு பிரச்சாரத்தை எடுத்துச் செல்ல வேண்டும் என்று கருதினர், மேலும் இது சம்பந்தமாக தீபம், ஆரோக்கிய அகம், பவர் டிரஸ்ட், மகளிர் ஆணையம் மதுரை, ஆண்டெனா டிரஸ்ட், சாக்சீடு;, சக்தி விடியல், சினேகா அறக்கட்டளை, வழக்கறிஞர்கள், சமூக ஆர்வலர்கள் மற்றும் சமூகப் பணி மாணவர்களுடன் இணைந்து பிரச்சாரத்தை கிராமங்களுக்கு கொண்டு செல்லலாம் என்று திட்டமிடப்பட்டது.
