I am Flora, working as a Trainer of Dalit Women Federation Unit at IDEAS. I participated in the Social Analysis workshop from January 30 to February 4, 2025. The workshop began with experiential sharing by women from the marginalized communities.

Murugeswari belongs to Kal Oddar community, a nomadic tribe considered by the police and public as a criminal tribe. She narrated how deeply she was affected as a student. Once her father was implicated in a false case and arrested by the police. Her pregnant mother was not spared. She was also asked to come to the Police Station and was tortured under the pretext of inquiry. Murugeswari had to take care of her siblings as well as go to the school. She said, “Life was not easy. I was cursing myself. Why is this situation to me?” After a few months, some social activists intervened and freed her parents from the police.

When I listened to this story, I was furious. The police must protect its citizens. How prejudiced the police are! I was angry with the police and the law-and-order system of our country. What can be done in such a situation? Can I do something?

I gained insights into analysis of social problems. While caste discrimination continues, one cannot look at caste-related problems in silos. The analysis must be comprehensive and must be linked to various dimensions, such as history, economics, politics, media and environment.

These days, I am engaging myself in the field in organizing and mobilizing the Dalit women. This workshop gave me a clear framework for scientific and objective analysis of the situation. I realized that I need to strengthen my understanding of historical analysis. I am rather weak in this.

All the 30 participants immensely benefitted from this workshop. Many raised in-depth questions and problems and sought insights from the resource persons. On the last day, everyone presented their plans. I am sure that at least 10-15 will implement their plans. My perspective and analytical framework are sharpened. Thank you, IDEAS!

நான் புளோரா, ஐடியாஸில் தலித் பெண்கள் கூட்டமைப்பு பிரிவின் பயிற்சியாளராக பணிபுரிகிறேன். நான் 2025 ஜனவரி 30 முதல் பிப்ரவரி 4 தேதி வரை நடைபெற்ற சமூகப் பகுப்பாய்வுப் பட்டறையில் பங்கேற்றேன். சமூகத்தில் ஒதுக்கப்பட்ட சமூகத்தைச் சேர்ந்த பெண்களின் அனுபவப் பகிர்வுடன் இந்தப் பயிற்சி பட்டறை தொடங்கியது.

காவல்துறை மற்றும் பொதுமக்களால் குற்றப்பழங்குடியினராகக் கருதப்படும் நாடோடி இனமான கல் ஒட்டர் சமூகத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர் முருகேஸ்வரி. ஒரு மாணவியாக தான் எவ்வளவு தூரம் பாதிப்புக்குள்ளானேன் என்பதை விவரித்தார். ஒருமுறை அவரது தந்தை பொய் வழக்கில் சிக்க வைக்கப்பட்டு காவல்துறையால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டார். காவல்துறையினர் அவளுடைய கர்ப்பிணித் தாயையும் விட்டுவைக்கவில்லை. விசாரணை என்ற பேரில் காவல்நிலையத்திற்கு வரச்சொல்லி துன்புறுத்தப்பட்டார்கள். முருகேஸ்வரி தனது உடன்பிறந்தவர்களைக் கவனித்துக் கொண்டு பள்ளிக்கும் செல்ல வேண்டியிருந்தது. எனது வாழ்க்கை எளிதானதாக இருக்கவில்லை. எனக்கு ஏன் இந்த நிலை? என்று என்னை நானே திட்டிக் கொண்டேன்” என்று கூறினார். சில மாதங்களுக்குப் பிறகு, சில சமூக ஆர்வலர்களின் தலையீட்டால் அவரது பெற்றோர் காவல்துறையினரிடமிருந்து விடுவிக்கப்பட்டனர்.

அவர் கூறியதை கேட்டதும் எனக்குக் கோபம் வந்தது. ஏனென்றால் தனது மக்களை பாதுகாக்க வேண்டிய காவல்துறையே இவ்வளவு பாரபட்சமாக இருந்திருக்கிறது. காவல்துறை மீதும், நம்நாட்டின் சட்ட ஒழுங்கு அமைப்பு மீதும் எனக்கு கோபம் வந்தது. இந்த நிலையை மாற்ற என்னால் என்ன செய்ய முடியும்? நான் ஏதாவது செய்ய முடியுமா? என்று தோன்றியது.

இப்பயிற்சியின் மூலம் சமூகப் பிரச்சனைகளை பகுப்பாய்வு செய்யும் அறிவு பெற்றேன். சாதியப் பாகுபாடுகள் தொடரும் அதே வேளையில், சாதி தொடர்பான பிரச்சனைகளை ஒரு குறுகிய பார்வையில் பார்க்க முடியாது. சாதியப் பாகுபாடுகளின் பின்னணி, வரலாறு, பொருளாதாரம், அரசியல், ஊடகம் மற்றும் சுற்றுச்சூழல் போன்ற விரிவான பார்வையில் பல்வேறு பரிமாணங்களுடன் தொடர்புப்படுத்தி பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்பதை கற்றுக் கொண்டேன்.

தற்போது நான் தலித் பெண்களை ஒருங்கிணைத்து, அமைப்பாக திரட்டும் களப்பணி செய்து கொண்டிருக்கிறேன். இந்த பயிற்சிப் பட்டறை வழியாக அறிவியல் மற்றும் புறநிலை பகுப்பாய்வுக்கான தெளிவான கட்டமைப்பை கற்றுக் கொண்டேன். மேலும் வரலாற்று பின்னணியில் பகுத்து பார்க்கும் அறிவில் வலுவிழந்து இருப்பதை உணர்ந்து, அதைப்பற்றி இன்னும் அதிமாக தெரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும் என்பதை உணர்ந்தேன்.

30 பங்கேற்பாளர்களும் இந்த செயலமர்வு பயிற்சி பட்டறை மூலம் பெரிதும் பயனடைந்தனர். பலர் ஆழமான கேள்விகள் மற்றும் பிரச்சனைகளை பற்றி கருத்தாளர்களிடம் கேள்வி எழுப்பி அதில் தெளிவு பெற்றனர். பயிற்சியின் கடைசி நாள் அனைவரும் தங்கள் களப்பணிக்கு எடுத்துச் செல்லும் செயல்திட்டங்களை முன்வைத்தனர். குறைந்தது 10-15 பேராவது தங்கள் திட்டங்களை செயல்படுத்துவார்கள் என்று நான் உறுதியாக நம்புகிறேன். எனது முன்னோக்கு பார்வை மற்றும் பகுப்பாய்வு கட்டமைப்பை கூர்மைப்படுத்திய ஐடியாஸ் மையத்திற்கு என் நன்றி.
