I am Chitra. Since 2013 I have been working as a scavenger at Pallimadam Panchayat, Thiruchulli, Union, Viruthunagar district. I have been participating in various awareness workshops organised by the Madurai Legal Awareness Coordination Committee (MLACC). I gained knowledge about fair wages, medical insurance, and arrears payments due to workers. In one of the workshops, the resource persons informed us that the government was providing a special scale of Rs 7,500 for those workers who joined in 2013. It struck me that I was receiving much lower remuneration to the tune of Rs. 5,000. I shared with the MLACC members that I was given only Rs. 5,000 and how they could help me receive Rs. 7,500, which is my entitlement. The committee members gave me a copy of the Government Order (GO), where it was stated that a worker who joined in 2013 is entitled to a monthly payment of Rs. 7,500. They guided me to submit a petition to the District Collector.

I submitted a petition to the District Collector, along with my bank passbook and a copy of the GO. The District Collector forwarded my petition to the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Thriuchulli Union. The BDO inquired about my petition. After verifying the documents, he ordered the Secretary of the Panchayat to pay me a monthly allowance of Rs. 7,500. Now, I am receiving Rs. 7,500. I have also learned how to get the arrears due to me since the panchayat has been paying me only Rs. 5,000, instead of Rs. 7,500. I hope to get my arrears soon. I thank the MLACC for guiding me to get my fair wages.

என்னுடைய பெயர் சித்ரா. நான் விருதுநகர் மாவட்டம்  திருச்சுழி ஒன்றியம் பள்ளிமடம் ஊராட்சியில் 2013 ஆம் ஆண்டு அரசு ஆணைப்படி துப்புரவு பணியாளராக பணி செய்து வருகிறேன். நான் மதுரை சட்ட விழிப்புணர்வு ஒருங்கிணைப்பு குழு ஏற்பாடு செய்யும் ஒன்றிய கூட்டங்களில் தவறாமல் கலந்து கொள்வேன். அக்கூட்டத்தில் தொழிலாளர்களுக்கான சரியான ஊதியம், மருத்துவ காப்பீடு, இன்சூரன்ஸ், நிலுவைத்தொகை போன்றவை குறித்து சட்ட உதவியாளர்கள் எடுத்துக் கூறுவதை கவனமாகக் கேட்பேன். அப்போது 2013 ஆம் ஆண்டு துப்புரவு பணியில் சேர்ந்தவர்களுக்கு அரசு ஆணைப்படி சிறப்பு காலமுறை ஊதியம் ரூபாய் 7500-க்கு மேலாக வழங்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக சட்ட உதவியாளர்கள் கூறினார்கள். அப்போதுதான் எனக்கு குறைவான ஊதியமாக ரூபாய் 5,000 வழங்கப்பட்டு வருவதை நான் தெரிந்து கொண்டேன். உடனடியாக சட்ட உதவியாளர்களிடம் நியாயமான ஊதியம் பெறுவதற்கான வழிமுறைகளை கேட்டபோது அவர்கள் இது சம்பந்தமான  அரசாணையின் நகலை எனக்கு வழங்கினார்கள். மேலும் மாவட்ட ஆசிரியரிடம் மனு அளிக்கமாறும் என்னிடம் கூறினர்.

நான் எனது வங்கி கணக்கு புத்தக நகல், அரசாணை நகல் ஆகியவற்றை இணைத்து மாவட்ட ஆட்சியரை சந்தித்து மனு அளித்தேன். எனது மனு திருச்சுழி ஒன்றிய அவரிடம் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டது. BDO அவர்கள் என்னை வரவழைத்து விசாரணை நடத்தினார். அவரிடம் நான் எனது பிரச்சனையை முறையிட்டு என்னிடம் உள்ள ஆவணங்களின் நகலை அவரிடம் காண்பித்தேன். அவர் ஊராட்சி செயலாளரை தொடர்பு கொண்டு எனக்கு சிறப்பு காலமுறை ஊதியம் வழங்க உத்தரவிட்டார். அதனால் எனக்கு தற்போது சிறப்பு காலமுறை ஊதியமாக ரூபாய் 7,500 வழங்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. மேலும் இதற்கான நிலுவைத் தொகை பெறவும் வழிமுறைகளை கற்றுக் கொண்டேன். நான் எனது சரியான ஊதியத்தை பெறுவதற்கு துணைபுரிந்த மதுரை சட்ட விழிப்புணர்வு  ஒருங்கிணைப்பு குழுவிற்கு எனது நன்றியை தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறேன்.
