I am P. Gopalakrishnan, studying 3^rd year law studies at Salem Government Law College. Through one of our friends, I came to know about the Social Analysis course organized by IDEAS. Five of us from the same college decided to participate.

On the first night, I befriended many participants. I could resonate with all as most of us were followers of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and his motto ‘educate, organize and agitate’. We were about 26. Except for a few all were youth, full of energy and passion, a good mix of boys and girls and a transgender.

My basic learning was that for social change youth must come together with a good understanding of social analysis. I felt that this was a different kind of learning which I normally do not get in our education system or outside. At the end of every session, I was raising many questions. I could understand to what extent a frozen structural ideology is controlling our minds. I could also learn how to use the media positively to generate awareness among the people. The methodology was interesting. Creative presentation on various topics was combined with reading books, songs, documentaries, debate, group work and sharing, and cultural performance. The group members gelled well. For me, everyday learning was an experience of a vibrant democracy.

ஒவ்வொரு நாள் கற்றலும் உயிரோட்டமுள்ள அனுபவமாக இருந்தது!

என் பெயர் பி. கோபாலகிருஷ்ணன். சேலம் அரசு சட்டக்கல்லூரியில் 3-ஆம் ஆண்டு சட்டப்படிப்பு படித்து வருகிறேன். எனது நண்பர் மூலமாக அய்டியாஸ் மையம் ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்த சமூகப் பகுப்பாய்வுப் பயிற்சியில் பங்கேற்கேற்கும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது.  எங்கள் கல்லூரியிலிருந்து 5 பேர் இப்பயிற்சியில் பங்கேற்றோம்.

முதல்நாள் பயிற்சி அமர்விலே பல பங்கேற்பாளர்களின் நட்பு கிடைத்தது. பங்கேற்பாளர்களில் பலர் அண்ணல் அம்பேத்கரின் “கற்பி ஒன்றுசேர் புரட்சிசெய்” என்ற கொள்கையை பிரதிபலிப்பவர்களாகவே இருந்தனர்.  ஒரு சிலரைத் தவிர அனைவரும் எங்கள் வயதுடைய துடிப்புள்ள இளைஞர்கள், பெண்கள், திருநங்கை என நல்ல குழுவாக இருந்தோம்.

சமூக மாற்றத்திற்கு இளைஞர்கள் சமூகப் பகுப்பாய்வைப் பற்றி நன்கு புரிந்து கொண்டு ஒன்றுபட்டு செயல்பட வேண்டும் என்பதை அடிப்படையாக கற்றுக் கொண்டேன். நமது கல்வி முறையிலோ, வெளியில் நடைபெறும் பயிற்சியிலோ கிடைக்காத ஒரு வித்தியாசமான பயிற்சியாக இருந்தது. ஒவ்வொரு அமர்வின் முடிவிலும் நான் பல கேள்விகளை எழுப்பினேன். நமது சமூகக் கட்டமைப்பு எவ்வாறு நம்மை அடக்கி வைத்திருக்கிறது என்பதை என்னால் உணர முடிந்தது. மக்களிடையே விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்த ஊடகங்களை எவ்வாறு நேர்மறையாகப் பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும் என்பதையும் கற்றுக் கொண்டேன். ஒவ்வொரு அமர்வையும் வடிவமைத்த விதம் சிறப்பாக இருந்தது. புத்தக வாசிப்பு, பாடல் பயிற்சி, ஆவணப்படங்கள், விவாதம், குழு பகிர்வு மற்றும் கலை நிகழ்ச்சிகள் போன்றவற்றின் அடிப்படையில் ஒவ்வொரு அமர்வும் மிகவும் சிறப்பானதாக இருந்தது. ஒவ்வொரு குழுவினரும் நன்றாக பேசினர். ஒவ்வொரு நாள் பயிற்சி அமர்வும் உயிரோட்டமுள்ள கற்றல் அனுபவமாக இருந்தது.
