I am Vasanth, and I reside at Kannapatti village, Dindigul district, along with my parents. I am studying Class 10 at the Government Higher Secondary School at Sekkapatti, near my village. I was not good at studies, and I was also not interested. I could not even read Tamil. I scored poor marks and failed in some subjects.

My class teacher advised me to join the evening study centre run by Madurai Legal Awareness Coordination Committee (MLACC). My teacher also told me that those who are regularly attending the evening study centres are doing well in their studies and showing a lot of interest. These children also behave well in the Class. I was motivated by my teachers’ concern, and I decided to join the evening study centre.

I met the evening study centre teacher and told her that I am forgetful and also do not know how to study. There were two teachers in the study centre. The teachers listened to me and guided me with compassion. Both took special interest in me. They taught me the lessons and made me write. They also allocated separate time for me and paid special attention. They made sure that I understood the lessons well. Slowly, I gained confidence and took an interest in my studies. I started scoring good marks in the tests. This boosted my self-confidence. In the recently held test, I scored high marks and passed in all the subjects. My parents are happy with my progress. My schoolteachers appreciate me for my improvement.

Looking at my progress, the schoolteachers are asking all weak students to attend the evening study centre. A few more have joined the study centre after me. Now, I am confident that I will score high marks in the final Class 10 examination. I feel that participation in the evening study centre has helped me to discipline my life. I also participate in various activities of the study centre. I am learning various soft skills. My behaviours have changed. Thanks to MLACC for providing handholding support to weak students like me.

நான் வசந்த், என் பெற்றோருடன் திண்டுக்கல் மாவட்டம், கண்ணாப்பட்டி கிராமத்தில் வசிக்கிறேன். நான் என் கிராமத்திற்கு அருகிலுள்ள செக்காப்பட்டி அரசு மேல்நிலைப் பள்ளியில் 10 ஆம் வகுப்பு படித்து வருகிறேன். எனக்கு படிப்பில் அவ்வளவு விருப்பமும் ஆர்வமும் இல்லை. எனக்கு தமிழ் கூட சரியாக படிக்கத் தெரியாது. நான் குறைந்த மதிப்பெண்கள் எடுத்து, சில பாடங்களில் தேர்ச்சி பெறாமலும் இருந்தேன்.

மதுரை சட்ட விழிப்புணர்வு ஒருங்கிணைப்பு குழு (MLACC) நடத்தும் மாலை நேர கல்வி  மையத்தில் சேருமாறு என் வகுப்பு ஆசிரியர் எனக்கு அறிவுரை கூறினார். இம்மையத்திற்கு   தவறாமல் செல்பவர்கள் தங்கள் படிப்பில் சிறப்பாகச் செயல்படுகிறார்கள் என்றும், படிப்பில் அதிக கவனம் செலுத்துகிறார்கள் என்றும் ஆசிரியர் என்னிடம் கூறினார். இந்தக் குழந்தைகள் வகுப்பில் நடந்து கொள்ளும் விதமும் சிறப்பாக இருக்கிறது என்று சொன்னார்கள். என் ஆசிரியர்களின் அறிவுரையால் உந்தப்பட்டு, மாலை நேர கல்வி மையத்தில் சேர முடிவு செய்தேன்.

நான் மாலை நேர கல்வி மைய ஆசிரியரைச் சந்தித்து, எனக்கு மறதி இருக்கிறது, எப்படிப் படிப்பது என்று தெரியவில்லை என்று சொன்னேன். மையத்தில் இரண்டு ஆசிரியர்கள் இருந்தனர். ஆசிரியர்கள் நான் சொல்வதை கனிவுடன் கேட்டு என்னை வழிநடத்தினர். இருவரும் என் மீது சிறப்பு அக்கறை காட்டினர். அவர்கள் எனக்கு பாடங்களைக் கற்றுக் கொடுத்தார்கள், எழுத வைத்தார்கள். எனக்கென தனி நேரத்தையும் ஒதுக்கி, சிறப்பு கவனம் செலுத்தினார்கள். பாடங்களை நான் நன்றாகப் புரிந்துகொள்கிறேனா என்று அவர்கள் உறுதி செய்தார்கள். மெதுவாக, எனது  தன்னம்பிக்கை அதிகரித்து,  படிப்பில் ஆர்வம் வந்தது. தேர்வுகளில் நல்ல மதிப்பெண்கள் பெற ஆரம்பித்தேன். இது என் தன்னம்பிக்கையை மேலும் அதிகரித்தது. சமீபத்தில் நடைபெற்ற தேர்வில், நான் அதிக மதிப்பெண்கள் பெற்று அனைத்து பாடங்களிலும் தேர்ச்சி பெற்றேன். படிப்பில் என் முன்னேற்றத்தை பார்த்து என் பெற்றோரும் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைத்தனர். என் முன்னேற்றத்தை கண்டு என் பள்ளி ஆசிரியர்களும் பாராட்டுகிறார்கள்.

எனது முன்னேற்றத்தைப் பார்த்து, பள்ளி ஆசிரியர்கள் சில மெல்ல கற்கும் மாணவர்களையும் மாலை நேர கல்வி மையத்திற்கு போக சொல்கிறார்கள். எனக்குப் பிறகு இன்னும் சிலர் மாலை நேர கல்வி மையத்தில் சேர்ந்துள்ளனர். இப்போது, ​​10 ஆம் வகுப்பு இறுதித் தேர்வில் நான் அதிக மதிப்பெண்கள் பெறுவேன் என்ற நம்பிக்கையுடன் இருக்கிறேன். மாலை நேர கல்வி மையத்திற்கு சென்று கல்வி கற்றது என் வாழ்க்கையை சீர்படுத்த உதவியது என்று நான் உணர்கிறேன். மாலை நேர கல்வி மையத்தில் நடக்கும் பல்வேறு செயல்பாடுகளிலும் நான் பங்கேற்கிறேன். கல்வி மட்டுமல்லாமல் பல்வேறு திறன்களையும்  வளர்த்து கொள்கிறேன். என்னுடைய பழக்கவழக்கங்கள் மாறிவிட்டன. என்னைப் போன்ற மெல்ல கற்கும் மாணவர்களுக்கு  கை கொடுத்து வழிகாட்டும் MLACC-க்கு நன்றி.
