Dalit Women Empowerment Unit
Organizing, motivating, animating, leadership development, and forming Dalit women into associations and a federation to live a dignified life is the core theme of this unit. Currently, Dalit women empowerment programs are organized in eight districts of Tamil Nadu, namely, Dindigul, Madurai, Ramnad, Sivagangai, Theni, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, and Virudhunagar.
The objectives are:
- Accompanying and animating Dalit women leaders while respecting their autonomy.
- Monitoring and guiding them in the process of movement building and systematising their organisational and programmatic activities.
- Equipping them with relevant knowledge on current social issues.
- Facilitating them to understand and imbibe analytical perspectives on social issues and developing appropriate responses.
- Facilitating coordination among them.
- Animating them to network with like-minded Dalit movements.
- Helping them to organize training programmes and consultations in the districts.
- Assisting them with legal support in times of crisis.
- Providing directional guidance to them when they take up issues.
- Encouraging them constantly in their ongoing social engagements.
