I am Diana Xavier, from Thiruthangal, near Sivakasi. I am married and have two children. In the first week of September 2006, I participated in a seven-day media training programme at the IDEAS Centre. Earlier, I thought television and cinema were only for entertainment. Through this training, I learned that media is closely connected to our daily lives.  At that time, I was working among young people. I divided the seven-day training into one-hour and half-day sessions, prepared the lessons and began conducting media training programmes. I gained a deeper understanding of media. When Fr Stephen heard about this, he encouraged and supported me to become a media resource person. He also gave me opportunities to travel to different places and conduct media training sessions. Later, I got married, and family responsibilities, especially after the birth of my child, made it difficult for me to continue my work as a media resource person. However, whenever I had the opportunity, I continued to conduct small training sessions for young Christian students and women’s groups.

During the training, I learned that media has the power to turn an individual’s pain into a social issue. I continued using social media to share people’s problems, especially those affecting marginalised communities. After 20 years, I attended a media training programme at the IDEAS Centre from October 7 to 11,2026. I wanted to learn about the latest changes in media and update my knowledge. Although the basic principles remain the same, it helped me learn new things and understand how media has changed over the years. My journey with the IDEAS Centre continues. Whenever I get an opportunity, I will share what I have learned with others, adapting the training to their needs. In the coming years, I am committed to using modern media responsibly and creatively. I believe that everyone can become a creator in today’s digital world. I thank the IDEAS Centre and its team for giving me this opportunity.

என் பெயர் டயானா சேவியர்; நான் சிவகாசிக்கு அருகிலுள்ள திருத்தங்கலைச் சேர்ந்தவள். எனக்குத் திருமணமாகி, இரண்டு குழந்தைகள் உள்ளனர். 2006-ஆம் ஆண்டு செப்டம்பர் மாதத்தின் முதல் வாரத்தில், ‘ஐடியாஸ்’ (IDEAS) மையத்தில் நடைபெற்ற ஏழு நாள் ஊடகப் பயிற்சி முகாமில் நான் கலந்துகொண்டேன். அதற்கு முன்பு வரை, தொலைக்காட்சி மற்றும் சினிமா ஆகியவை பொழுதுபோக்கிற்கானவை மட்டுமே என்று நான் நினைத்திருந்தேன். இந்தப் பயிற்சியின் மூலம்தான், ஊடகங்கள் நம் அன்றாட வாழ்க்கையோடு எவ்வளவு நெருங்கிய தொடர்புடையவை என்பதைப் புரிந்துகொண்டேன். அந்த நேரத்தில், நான் இளைஞர்களுடன் இணைந்து பணியாற்றி வந்தேன். அந்த ஏழு நாள் பயிற்சியை ஒரு மணி நேர அமர்வுகளாகவும், அரை நாள் அமர்வுகளாகவும் பிரித்து, பாடத்திட்டங்களைத் தயாரித்து, ஊடகப் பயிற்சி வகுப்புகளை நடத்தத் தொடங்கினேன். இதன் மூலம் ஊடகங்கள் குறித்த ஆழமான புரிதல் எனக்குக் கிடைத்தது. இதையறிந்த அருட்பணியாளர் ஸ்டீபன், நான் ஒரு ஊடகப் பயிற்சியாளராக (media resource person) உருவெடுக்க ஊக்கமும் ஆதரவும் அளித்தார். பல்வேறு இடங்களுக்குச் சென்று ஊடகப் பயிற்சி வகுப்புகளை நடத்துவதற்கான வாய்ப்புகளையும் அவர் எனக்கு வழங்கினார். பிற்காலத்தில், திருமண வாழ்க்கை மற்றும் குடும்பப் பொறுப்புகள், குறிப்பாக எனது குழந்தைப் பிறப்பிற்குப் பிறகு, ஊடகப் பயிற்சியாளராகத் தொடர்ந்து பணியாற்றுவதில் சிரமங்கள் ஏற்பட்டன. இருப்பினும், வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்கும்போதெல்லாம், கிறிஸ்தவ இளைஞர்கள் மற்றும் பெண்கள் குழுக்களுக்காகச் சிறிய அளவிலான பயிற்சி வகுப்புகளைத் தொடர்ந்து நடத்தி வந்தேன்.

பயிற்சியின் போது, ​​ஒரு தனிநபரின் துயரத்தை ஒரு சமூகப் பிரச்சினையாக மாற்றும் ஆற்றல் ஊடகங்களுக்கு உண்டு என்பதைக் கற்றுக்கொண்டேன். விளிம்புநிலைச் சமூகங்களை பாதிக்கும் பிரச்சினைகள் உட்பட, மக்களின் துயரங்களைப் பகிர்ந்துகொள்ள சமூக ஊடகங்களைப் பயன்படுத்தினேன். 20 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு, 2026-ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 7 முதல் 11 வரை, மீண்டும் ‘ஐடியாஸ்’ மையத்தில் நடைபெற்ற ஊடகப் பயிற்சி முகாமில் கலந்துகொண்டேன். ஊடகத் துறையில் ஏற்பட்டுள்ள புதிய மாற்றங்களைக் கற்றுக்கொண்டு, எனது அறிவைப் புதுப்பித்துக்கொள்ள விரும்பினேன். அடிப்படைத் தத்துவங்கள் மாறாமல் இருந்தாலும், புதிய விஷயங்களைக் கற்றுக்கொள்ளவும், காலப்போக்கில் ஊடகங்கள் எவ்வாறு பரிணாம வளர்ச்சி அடைந்துள்ளன என்பதைப் புரிந்துகொள்ளவும் இந்தப் பயிற்சி உதவியது. ‘ஐடியாஸ்’ மையத்துடனான எனது பயணம் இன்றும் தொடர்கிறது. வாய்ப்பு கிடைக்கும்போதெல்லாம், நான் கற்றுக்கொண்ட விஷயங்களை மற்றவர்களுடன் பகிர்ந்துகொள்வேன்; அவர்களின் தேவைக்கேற்ப பயிற்சிகளை வடிவமைத்து வழங்குவேன். வரும் ஆண்டுகளில், நவீன ஊடகங்களை பொறுப்புடனும் ஆக்கபூர்வமாகவும் பயன்படுத்த நான் உறுதியுடன் இருக்கிறேன். இன்றைய டிஜிட்டல் உலகில், ஒவ்வொருவரும் ஒரு படைப்பாளராக மாற முடியும் என்று நான் நம்புகிறேன். எனக்கு இந்த வாய்ப்பை வழங்கிய ‘ஐடியாஸ்’ மையத்திற்கும் அதன் குழுவினருக்கும் எனது நன்றியைத் தெரிவித்துக்கொள்கிறேன்.
