A class 4 dropout dreaming of becoming a teacher!

In Kannagi Colony, Thiruthangal, Sivakasi Corporation, the Itinerant People’s Rights Organisation (IPRO) Evening Study Centre, and the Constitutional Rights Education Forum are actively working to support the development of children and the community.

A Pavithra, daughter of Muthumadan and Pechiyammal, had dropped out of school after completing Class 3 due to financial hardship. Instead of attending school, she accompanied her parents to work, collecting old clothes from households, repairing umbrellas, and buying used items door-to-door.

Recognizing her situation, we, the Evening Study Centre teachers, met Pavithra’s parents several times and explained the importance of education and the long-term benefits it could bring to their daughter’s future. Though they were initially hesitant, they were slowly convinced after continuous discussions and encouragement.

Pavithra was first invited to attend the Evening Study Centre, where we provided guidance, motivation, and support. Eventually, with her parents’ consent, she was re-enrolled in Class 4 at Rathnavilas Higher Secondary School.

Pavithra successfully completed Class 4 in the last academic year and is now studying Class 5. Along with formal schooling, she regularly attends the Evening Study Centre, where we continue to support and monitor her learning. We also visit her school every month to meet the Headmaster and review her academic progress.

Today, Pavithra is studying with confidence and determination. Her parents proudly share that their daughter’s life has taken a positive direction after joining the Evening Education Centre.

Pavithra now dreams of becoming a teacher, and we, the IPRO team and Evening Study Centre teachers, remain committed to supporting her journey towards achieving that dream.
