“I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a state-level capacity-building training organised by the IDEAS Center in Madurai from March 26–27, 2025. For someone like me, who rarely travels or stays away from home, this was a new and meaningful experience. It was the first time I spent two days away from my family to take part in training. At home, I usually cook and wait for everyone else to eat before I have my food. But at this training, I was cared for and treated with warmth, just like I would be at my mother’s house. We were given healthy food, safe accommodation, and a space to learn and grow. The experience was both comforting and inspiring”, stated Sudha, living in Jayamangalam, Theni district.

On the first day, during the opening session, we learned about the Jesuits and their journey with the marginalised communities. Then, Mr. A. Paranthiran, a Trainer from the District Resource Center for Panchayats, engaged the women, explaining how local government works. He narrated how funds are shared, the roles of central and state government units, and the responsibilities of panchayat leaders. He also shared how women in Kerala succeeded through the Kudumbashree programme, based on the formation of self-help groups.

On the second day, we started with a session called “Knowing Ourselves,” led by the programme director. We worked in small groups to talk about our interests, dislikes, past achievements, and future dreams. Then, each group shared their thoughts. This activity helped us understand each other better and build a stronger connection.

Later, we had a very informative session with Ms. Hilda Edwin Rufina, Deputy Tahsildar of the Social Security Scheme, Madurai. She explained which documents are needed to get certificates like caste, residence, income, and widowhood. She also gave us helpful information about different government welfare schemes for women. Many said, “Our doubts are cleared, and we have gained confidence.”

As a trainer and coordinator, I felt confident and inspired. I am truly thankful to the women of the Tamil Nadu Dalit Women Federation for having confidence in IDEAS Center and our work.

“2025 மார்ச் 26-17 தேதிகளில் மதுரை ஐடியாஸ் மையத்தில் நடந்த மாநில அளவிலான திறன் வளர்ப்புப் பயிற்சியில் கலந்து கொள்ளும் அருமையான வாய்ப்பு எனக்குக் கிடைத்தது. அரிதாகப் பயணம் செய்யும் அல்லது வீட்டை விட்டு வெளியே எங்கும் செல்லாத என்னைப் போன்றவர்களுக்கு இது ஒரு புதிய அர்த்தமுள்ள அனுபவமாக இருந்தது. பயிற்சியில் பங்கேற்பதற்காக எனது குடும்பத்தை விட்டுவிட்டு இரண்டு நாட்கள் வெளியே தங்கி பயிற்சி பெற்றது இதுவே முதன் முறை. நாங்கள் எங்களது அம்மா வீட்டில் இருப்பதைப் போன்ற அரவணைப்புடன் நடத்தப்பட்டோம். எங்களுக்கு ஆரோக்கியமான உணவு, பாதுகாப்பான தங்குமிடம் மற்றும் கற்றுக் கொள்வதற்கும், அறிவில் வளர்வதற்கும் ஒரு இடம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது” என்று தேனி மாவட்டம் ஜெயமங்கலத்திலிருந்து வந்திருந்த சுதா என்பவர் தனது அனுபவத்தை இவ்வாறு பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்.

முதல் நாள் தொடக்க அமர்வின் போது, இயேசு சபையினர் மற்றும் விளிம்புநிலை மக்களுடனான அவர்களின் உடனிருப்பை பற்றி அறிந்து கொண்டோம். பின்னர் மாவட்ட பஞ்சாயத்துக்களுக்கான வள மையத்தின் பயிற்சியாளர் திரு.ஏ. பரந்திரன், உள்ளாட்சி அமைப்புகள் எவ்வாறு செயல்படுகிறது, நிதி எவ்வாறு பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளப்படுகிறது, மத்திய மற்றும் மாநில அரசுகளின் பங்கு மற்றும் பஞ்சாயத்து தலைவர்களின் பொறுப்புகள் ஆகியவற்றை பற்றி விவரித்தார். சுயஉதவி குழுக்களை உருவாக்குதன் அடிப்படையில் “குடும்பஸ்ரீ” திட்டத்தின் மூலம் கேரளாவில் பெண்கள் எவ்வாறு வெற்றி பெற்றனர் என்பதையும் அவர் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்.

கூட்டமைப்பின் இயக்குநர் அவர்களின் தலைமையில் “நம்மை அறிவோம்” என்ற அமர்வுடன் இரண்டாம் நாள் பயிற்சி தொடங்கியது. எங்களின் ஆசைகள், விருப்பு வெறுப்புகள், கடந்த கால சாதனைகள் மற்றும் எதிர்கால கனவுகள் பற்றி பேசுவதற்கு நாங்கள் சிறு சிறு குழுக்களாக பிரிக்கப்பட்டோம். பின்னர் ஒவ்வொரு குழுவும் தங்கள் கருத்துக்களைப் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டனர். இந்தச் செயல்பாடானது ஒருவரையொருவர் நன்றாகப் புரிந்து கொள்வதற்கும், எங்களுக்குள் வலுவான ஒருங்கிணைப்பை உருவாக்கவும் உதவியாக இருந்தது.

அதன்பின்னர், சாதி, இருப்பிடம், வருமானம், விதவை போன்ற சான்றிதழ்களைப் பெற என்னென்ன ஆவணங்கள் தேவை என்பதை மதுரை சமூகப் பாதுகாப்புத் திட்டத் துணை வட்டாட்சியர் திருமதி ஹில்டா எட்வின் ரூஃபினா அவர்கள் விளக்கி கூறினார். மற்றும் பெண்களுக்கான அரசின் பல்வேறு நலத்திட்டங்கள் பற்றிய பல பயனுள்ள தகவல்களையும் கூறினார். எங்களின் பல்வேறு கேள்விகளுக்கான பதில் கிடைத்து, நம்பிக்கையை பெற்றுள்ளோம் என்று பலர் கூறினார்கள்.

ஒரு பயிற்சியாளர் மற்றும் ஒருங்கிணைப்பாளர் என்ற முறையில், நம்பிக்கையும், உற்சாகமும் பெற்றதை நான் உணர்ந்தேன். ஐடியாஸ் மையத்தின் மீதும், நாங்கள் செய்யும் பணியின் மீதும் நம்பிக்கை வைத்துள்ள தலித் பெண்கள் கூட்டமைப்பின் பெண்களுக்கு நான் உண்மையிலேயே நன்றி கூறுகிறேன்.
