I am Karpagavalli, residing in Thoppulakarai village, Aruppukottai Taluk, Viruthunagar District with my husband Innasimuthu, and two children. I belong to the Paraiyar community, one of the Scheduled Castes. I have been working as a manual scavenger at Thoppulakalai village, Thrichuli Panchayat for 5 years. After joining the Sangam, I have been participating in training programmes organized by the Madurai Legal Awareness Coordinating Committee. In one of the training sessions, we were introduced to the welfare schemes of the government, especially the loan assistance scheme for livelihood by Tamil Nadu Adi Dravidar Housing & Development Corporation Ltd (TAHDCO). I requested the trainers to assist me in getting the loan for goat rearing and provided the necessary documents to them. The trainers helped me to file the online application. Later, I was called for an inquiry and verification of the documents.

After a couple of months, I was granted a loan amount of Rs.1,60,000, out of which Rs. 45,000 was given as a subsidy. I had to repay only Rs 1,15,000. Using this loan, I bought 10 goats and started rearing them. The goats are multiplying, and I am earning a decent income. I am regularly repaying my loan amount. I am able to take care of the education of my children and also pay some old debts. Ours is a happy family now. I thank the Madurai Legal Awareness Coordinating Committee for motivating and guiding me to access the loan facility and helping me to improve my family life.

நான் கற்பகவள்ளி, விருதுநகர் மாவட்டம், அருப்புக்கோட்டை தாலுகா, தொப்பலக்கரை கிராமத்தில் கணவர் இன்னாசிமுத்து மற்றும் இரண்டு குழந்தைகளுடன் வசித்து வருகிறேன். நான் பட்டியலின பறையர் சமூகத்தைச் சார்ந்தவள். கடந்த 5 ஆண்டுகளாக தொப்பலக்கரை கிராமம், திருச்சுழி பஞ்சாயத்தில் தூய்மைப் பணியாளராக பணி புரிந்து வருகிறேன். நான் துப்புரவு பணியாளர்கள் உரிமை சங்கத்தில் இணைந்த பிறகு, மதுரை சட்ட விழிப்புணர்வு ஒருங்கிணைப்புக் குழு நடத்திய பல பயிற்சிகளில் பங்கேற்றுள்ளேன். அவ்வாறு நான் கலந்து கொண்ட ஒரு பயிற்சியில் அரசின் நலத்திட்டங்கள், குறிப்பாக தமிழ்நாடு ஆதிதிராவிடர் வீட்டு வசதி மற்றம் மேம்பாட்டுக் கழகம் (தாட்கோ) மூலமாக மக்களின் வாழ்வாதார மேம்பாட்டிற்காக வழங்கப்படும் கடன் திட்டம் பற்றி எடுத்துக் கூறினார்கள். ஆடு வளர்ப்பதற்கான கடனை எனக்கு பெற்றுத்தர உதவுமாறு பயிற்சியாளர்களிடம் கேட்டுக் கொண்டேன். கடன் தொகை பெறுவதற்கான அனைத்து ஆவணங்களையும் கொடுத்தேன். அவர்களும் ஆன்லைன் மூலமாக விண்ணப்பிக்க உதவி செய்தார்கள். பிறகு ஆவண சரிபார்ப்பிற்காக என்னை நேரடியாக தாட்கோ அலுவலகத்திற்கு அழைத்தார்கள்.

அங்கு சென்றுவந்து ஓரிரு மாதங்களுக்கு பிறகு எனக்கு ரூ.1,60,000 கடன் தொகை வழங்கப்பட்டது. அந்த தொகையில் ரூ. 45,000 மானியம் போக மீதம் ரூ.1,15,000 மட்டுமே திரும்ப செலுத்த வேண்டிய தொகையாகும். இந்த தொகையை வைத்து 10 ஆடுகளை வாங்கி வளர்க்க தொடங்கினேன். ஆடுகள் பெருகி போதுமான வருமானம் கிடைத்தது. எனது கடன் தொகையை தவறாமல் திரும்ப செலுத்துவது மட்டுமல்லாமல், எனது குழந்தைகளின் கல்வி செலவினங்கள் மற்றும் ஏற்கனவே இருந்த கடன்களையும் திரும்ப செலுத்தும் அளவிற்கு எனது பொருளாதாரம் மேம்பட்டுள்ளது. தற்போது எனது கணவர் மற்றும் குழந்தைகளுடன் மகிழ்ச்சியுடன் வாழ்ந்து வருகிறேன். என்னை ஊக்கப்படுத்தி, வழிகாட்டி எனது குடும்பத்தின் வாழ்வாதார மேம்பாட்டிற்கு உதவிய மதுரை சட்ட விழிப்புணர்வு ஒருங்கிணைப்புக் குழுவிற்கு எனது நன்றியை தெரிவித்து கொள்கிறேன்.
